Drypoint Intaglio – with J.J. Martyn
Date & Time: Thursdays, March 27th to May 1st, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm
Location: The Georgina Centre for Arts and Culture | 149 High St, Sutton West
Price: $165 (all materials included)
In this workshop, participants will work with J.J. Martyn to learn the fundamentals of drypoint intaglio using an eco-friendly and accessible approach. Utilizing recycled food packaging as the printing plate, students will explore how to create images by incising directly into the material’s surface. The workshop covers essential techniques, including plate preparation, inking with water-and-soap-clean-up inks.
Participants will learn how to print without a traditional press by using a pasta maker or an embossing/die-cutting machine, allowing home studio artists to expand their creative practice with minimal equipment.
Additionally, participants will gain hands-on experience with innovative techniques, such as chine-collé, to enhance their prints with colour and texture.
Perfect for artists of all levels—no drawing experience necessary—this workshop emphasizes sustainability while fostering creativity through traditional printmaking practices.
Registration closes on March 20th, 2025. Claim your spot here!
